The trouble with changing user interfaces for the hell of it is that it confuses people, much like labelling the buttons in a lift "L", "G" and "F" rather than "0", "1", "2", etc. The improvement from the perspective of the purely logical mind is utterly negated by the loss of familiarity and consequent delay and error.
